<p>Chronic pain can significantly impact one's quality of life. Recognizing this, our team has firsthand experience with the challenges of chronic pain and has collaborated with a team of world-class pain experts to develop a comprehensive 12-week program. The aim of this program is to transition individuals from a state of pain to a state of flow.</p>

<p>According to Dr. Aman Mahajan, Chair of Perioperative Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Flowly not only helps manage the physical aspects of living with pain and anxiety but also provides invaluable support in overcoming the associated mental challenges. Pierre Etienne-Vannier, a Mind-Body Practitioner, highlights that Flowly's virtual worlds allow users to regain a sense of calm and safety at both the emotional and physical levels, thereby reducing activation in the nervous system and alleviating pain.</p>

<p>Flowly's Healing from Pain Program is a curated 12-week journey that includes new lessons, daily trainings, and access to a personal coach. The program is divided into three phases:</p>

<h3>Weeks 1-4: Building the Foundation</h3>

<p>In your first week, you will receive a Kit containing a VR headset and an HR sensor for daily VR nervous system training. Additionally, you will schedule your first of three coaching sessions with a Flowly coach. During this session, you will set goals for the program, design your personalized Flowly routine, and have any questions addressed.</p>

<h3>Weeks 5-8: Cultivating Intrinsic Brain-Body Regulation</h3>

<p>During this phase, you will engage in trainings that utilize your nervous system to gain control over various psychological and emotional aspects of your chronic pain experience. You will also explore new environments and tools that promote physical safety. At the midpoint of the program, you will have a second coaching session to assess progress and discuss goals.</p>

<h3>Weeks 9-12: Establishing Enduring Practice</h3>

<p>This phase focuses on reinforcing the training you have undergone so far. You will consolidate all your tools and learnings into a daily ritual that suits your current life and, more importantly, sets the foundation for your future life and aspirations. The program concludes with a final coaching session, wrapping up the program and establishing next steps.</p>

<p>Throughout the entire program, you will have access to various resources:</p>

<ul>
<li>Bubbles: Virtual support groups where participants can connect with each other and engage in activities aimed at improving health.</li>
<li>Workshops: Educational sessions led by health experts and specialists on specific health topics.</li>
<li>Tools: Resources such as 2D breathwork guides and educational articles available in the app's Resources tab.</li>
<li>Forum: A community forum where participants can share their experiences and ask questions.</li>
</ul>

<p>After completing the 12-week program, you will have the option to enter "Maintenance Mode." This mode provides ongoing access to program content, new VR worlds, experiences, and other in-app resources.</p>

<h2>Can This Actually Work?</h2>

<p>Flowly combines the power of biofeedback for relaxation training with Virtual Reality. Both therapies have been extensively studied for pain management, with over 1,000 dedicated studies. Additionally, Flowly has partnered with institutions like UPMC and USC for research studies funded by the National Institute of Health.</p>

<p>As stated by Dr. Robert Tien, former Chair of Neuroradiology at Duke University, Flowly's experiences can enhance a user's Vagus Nerve function. This enhancement plays a crucial role in preventing inflammation, increasing heart resilience, and alleviating symptoms of chronic pain and anxiety.
